What is counselling and psychotherapy?
Counselling and psychotherapy are often used interchangeably. However, counselling is usually shorter term and people may come because of situational or daily stresses rather than persistent, deep rooted issues that require more long term treatment which psychotherapy would support.
Life can be challenging especially when we are dealing with difficult or overwhelming feelings. It is often hard to understand the root of one's own pain and perhaps talking to friends and family is too difficult or does not seem to bring about the change and acceptance you seek.
Everyone can benefit from the space and time to think, talk and express themselves freely. Therapy is an opportunity to look at your challenges and feelings in a different and productive way with a trained therapist who will respect you and your opinions.
It can be an emotional journey and in the first few sessions you may feel particularly anxious. Together we will be able to talk through any thoughts and feelings that you may want to explore no matter how difficult or challenging you feel they may be.
